Superintendent's Message

Welcome to Covington Independent Public Schools and our website. We hope you will find useful information about our programs, services and upcoming events on our website.

In Covington, we are on a mission to become one of the best urban school districts in the United States. We want every student to graduate with the skills to reach his or her full potential to be successful in a career or college and beyond.

We proudly educate nearly 4,000 students in pre school - 12th grades. We are small enough that parents and community members can get to know the people who take care of and educate your children, and large enough to provide programs and services that allow students to thrive. Those programs and services range from the International Baccalaureate program for high school students to free, full-day kindergarten.

We are striving to meet the ever-changing needs of our students. The three priorities of the Strategic Plan continue to guide the decisions made for our students, staff, and community of Covington Schools:

  • Ensure and enhance student-centered learning
  • Foster and sustain positive and productive culture
  • Strengthen schools as community learning centers to serve students, family and neighborhood needs

We welcome parents, community members and business leaders to help us reach our goals, and to join us as we guide our students to Dream, Achieve and Succeed

Alvin L. Garrison,
Superintendent
