Ninth District Elementary is proud to offer a free after-school program called the Viking Zone. The Viking Zone provides academic support opportunities that are connected to the school day to help move our students toward college and career readiness. The Viking Zone provides homework help, individualized tutoring as needed, and small group “WIN” time (What I Need). Students also engage in enrichment activities to provide hands on learning experiences through club and social groups. Some of our clubs offered include a Nutrition Club, Sewing Club, Yoga, LEGO Robotics, Fitness Groups, and a variety of others offered with our great community partners. This valuable time also allows students to build relationships with their peers, teachers, and gain the confidence they need to be successful.
Viking Zone takes place Monday – Friday from 3:05- 5:30 each day school is in session. Each child is provided with a dinner and snack before leaving. There are two dismissal times for the convenience of the families. First dismissal is at 4:30, the second dismissal is from 5:15-5:30. Families may choose the time that fits their schedule. Please note, all students must be picked up by 5:30.
The after school program is very popular with students and parents and there is often a waiting list to attend. If you are interested, please contact our CLC (Viking Zone) Coordinator Julie Muehlenkamp or our Family Resource Center Coordinator, Marilynn Arnold at 859-292-5823 Ext. 31907.
