Dear Sixth District Family and Friends, As the new principal of Sixth District Elementary, I would like to introduce myself. I have been a member of the Covington community for most of my life, either living or working in Covington. I attended Latonia Elementary, Holmes Middle, and High School. I continued my education by getting my undergraduate degree from Morehead St. University in Health Promotion. Following this, I returned to Georgetown College to get a degree in Special Education, so I could teach. I returned to Morehead State once again to get my degree in Instructional Leadership to be able to hold my current position as principal of Sixth District Elementary. I started my education career during the 2009-2010 school year right here at Sixth District Elementary as a special education teacher working with students who needed emotional and behavior support. In January of 2020, I moved into the Assistant Principal position. During that time, I had the opportunity to work with some great students, staff, and families and they have helped shape the leader I am today. As the principal of Sixth District, I would like to continue to build a culture where students come first, and decisions are based on what is best for our students. I plan to continue to work with our families to develop positive relationships so our students can be successful. Although academics is a very important part of our school day, we will also be supporting our students' social emotional needs throughout each day. Every day at Sixth District Elementary we want our students to SWIM: Strive to be respectful Work well with others Improve everyday Make good choices Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife of 18 years and our three children. As a family, we like to root for our local sports teams and do outdoor activities. I look forward to working with the Sixth District family to ensure that students' time here at Sixth District is positive.
