Transportation FAQ's

How do I know which bus my child should be on?

Each school has bus schedule assignments. Your child's school will let you know what bus your child should ride, as well as pickup and drop-off times.

What happens if the bus is late?

Please give the bus 10 minutes after the scheduled pick up or drop off time. After that, please call the transportation office, 859-292-5912 and we will check on the bus. Buses should never be early,

Where will the bus pick up and drop off my child?

The school that your child attends will give parents information regarding bus assignments, times and places for pick up and drop off. Bus stops are assigned to be as close to your house as possible. Students from Biggs Early Childhood Center and students with Individual Education Plans are picked up and dropped off as close to the front of their homes as possible.

Will my child have an assigned seat on the bus?

That is up to the bus driver. The important thing to remember is that for safety reasons, your child must remain seated when on the bus and must follow the instructions of the driver and bus monitor.

How many students are assigned to a bus?

The capacity of our buses depends on the age of the children. Elementary students may be assigned 3 to a seat. Middle and high school students are assigned 2 to a seat. No one is ever allowed to stand. Our largest bus has 28 seats, but most have 24 seats,

What happens when the weather is bad and streets are slippery?

Unless schools are closed or delayed, buses will run at their regularly scheduled times. If you live on a steep hill, your child will receive a letter from the driver that instructs your child where he or she will be picked up when streets are slippery. It will usually be at the bottom of the hill.

Who should I call if I am unhappy about the bus service or anything else related to transportation?

Please call 859-292-5912, and we will try to solve the problem. The office is open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
