The Covington Board of Education approved a 5 percent salary increase for all employees at its board meeting Thursday night. The salary increase takes effect July 1.
"Our employees are so deserving of this increase,'' said Superintendent Alvin Garrison. "We are blessed with a group of dedicated, hardworking individuals.''
The increase means the starting salary for a beginning teacher with no experience will go from $40,051 to $42,054. On the high end of the schedule, a Rank I teacher with 27 years experience and 30 hours post masters, is going from $71,998 to $75,597.
