In honor of Black History Month, students at Glenn O. Swing Elementary School are researching and honoring African Americans for their contributions to society. During a school assembly this morning, students in Jennifer Young’s fourth grade class presented their findings on Kentucky State Rep. Arnold Simpson, D-Covington.
Mr. Simpson has represented the 65th District in the Kentucky House of Representatives since 1994. Mr. Simpson, an attorney, is a graduate of Holmes High School and the University of Kentucky. He was the first African American to serve as city manager for the City of Covington. He is active in the Covington community, serving on several boards. He has also received numerous awards and honors for his community service.
Mr. Simpson was on hand to hear the students’ presentation. He also took questions from students.
