Superintendent's Message

Alvin Garrison, Superintendent

In our quest to become a national leader in education, Covington Independent Public Schools developed a Strategic Plan that provides a clear focus on how to get there. The Strategic Plan is posted in all of our schools and this year, the district calendar reflects the plan and the roadmap to success for our students. It details the district’s beliefs, goals, strategies and priorities.

When I started my journey as Covington’s superintendent more than 6 years ago, I began discussing priorities for the district - creating a positive, collaborative culture; establishing a culture of continuous improvement and setting high expectations for all. These priorities are included in the Strategic Plan.  We have witnessed some successes as we have implemented components of our goals, initiatives and priorities. However, we all know that for our students to get the education they deserve, it takes all of us working together – from transportation to nutrition services, to instructional assistants to coaches, teachers and administrators.

On behalf of the Covington Board of Education and our school district, I invite you to join in our commitment to shape our schools, our students, and our future.
