From our preschool program to our International Baccalaureate program, Covington offers opportunities for all students to excel. Many Covington students begin their educational careers at our James E. Biggs Early Childhood Education Center, where they leave well-prepared for kindergarten. The Covington Board of Education financially supports the pre school program as well as all-day kindergarten.
On the other end of the educational spectrum is Holmes High School, where students can earn college credit while in high school through our partnership with Gateway Community and Technical College.
The goal is for each student at Holmes High School to graduate with 15 hours of transferable college credit.
Covington Schools also is the only school district in Northern Kentucky that offers the International Baccalaureate, (IB), program, where students have the opportunity to earn the IB Diploma by completing university-level work in high school. In addition to Ron Clark Classrooms, AP, IB and SpringBoard courses, students at Holmes can learn trades such as carpentry and auto mechanics at the Chapman Career and Technical Education Center.
The goal of Covington Independent Public Schools is to have all graduating students equipped with the skills to go on to postsecondary education or to start a career. To help students get into college, we have CARE, College Access Resource Environment, a room staffed with counselors who take students on college visits and help them complete college applications and scholarship and financial aid forms.
