Parent Information on Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Days
Each winter we begin to experience the possibility of weather-related or emergency disruptions to our regular school schedule. We want to take the opportunity to keep our parents informed regarding what a Non-Traditional or NTI day looks like for your child and what will take place.
How we will communicate the need for NTI days to parents
The decision to use an NTI day will be communicated through the district’s messaging system, school websites, and local news outlets. Please make certain your contact information is up to date with your child’s school.
What Are NTI Days?
NTI days are a continuation of learning from home when the weather creates conditions where students cannot report to school safely. NTI days make it possible for us to continue our instruction with your child.
How NTI Days Work
Assignments and Materials: Instruction could be online through assignments in Google Classroom or by using paper packets, both created by the teacher. How your child’s school conducts their NTI day will be communicated to you so that you are prepared and have the resources you need.
Student Attendance: We know that NTI days can pose a challenge in many ways for our parents. For this reason, we provide multiple ways students can be counted present for the NTI day. Here are some examples: Online instruction with your child’s teacher, phone calls between the student and the teacher (or parent and student for smaller children), a student’s time online logged into an educational program (programs provided by the teacher only), or the submission of the student’s paper packet to their teacher.
How To Be Prepared
Make sure your child has all the materials they need to complete their assignments.
If your child’s school is running online NTI and you do not have access to the internet, contact your child’s teacher and they will provide an alternative for your child.
Make sure your child knows they can reach out to their teacher during the school day for help.
If you need resources, contact your child’s school.
We appreciate your support in making our NTI days a success.
