It's a great day at Covington Independent Public Schools.

First day of school delayed until September 3, 2019

As a result of several facility-related complications in our district, the start of school has been changed to Tuesday, September 3, 2019.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but given the condition of several of our school buildings, we selected the best solution for our students, parents and staff.

Recently, John G. Carlisle Elementary School sustained significant water damage resulting from a pipe rupture.  The Holmes Campus and our alternative programs also sustained water damage that is being addressed. As always, our priority is the health and safety of our students and staff.

The full school year calendar is being revised and is scheduled to be approved by the Covington Board of Education later this month. At that time, parents/guardians will receive the revised school calendar.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause. If you should have questions, please contact your school principal.

Sincerely,
Alvin Garrison
Superintendent,
Covington Independent Public Schools
