Nutrition Services

The Nutrition Services Department is dedicated to serving nutritious and well-balanced school meals that support a successful learning environment for all students.

Our department has approximately 50 employees and serves around 4,000 breakfasts and lunches each day in 9 schools across the district. We provide nutritionally balanced, free meals for students each school day through federally assisted meal programs. Hungry children find it hard to stay alert and participate in class, so we help close the readiness gap with a good breakfast before school begins. We also plan lunches that provide one-third of the recommended dietary allowance for school-age children. Our menus include a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, low-fat milk, and whole-grain products. Additionally, we follow the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) nutrition requirements that include age and grade-appropriate calorie ranges, as well as limits on sodium, fat, and sugar content.

Summer Food Service Program

Just as learning does not end when the school year is complete, neither does a child's need for good nutrition. The Summer Food Service Program provides free, nutritious meals to help children 18-and-under get the nutrition they need to learn, play and grow throughout the summer months.

After-School Snack and Dinner Program

After-school snacks and dinner, during organized, structured and supervised after-school programs, allow children to think better and help them to make the grade!

We love Fueling Covington’s Future one meal at a time!
