Help Shape the Future of Covington Independent Public Schools

The Covington Board of Education has launched a national search for the next Superintendent of Covington Independent Public Schools.  The board is united, focused, and committed to a strategic, rigorous, and transparent search process that will feature multiple opportunities for the public to get involved, beginning in October.

The board is committed to leading a superintendent search process guided by the following principles and values:

  • Openness and transparency: To the extent possible, we will keep you informed at every step, so you can feel confident in what we’re doing and how we’re doing it.

  • Community engagement: We will involve you. We plan a robust schedule of town hall forums, focus groups, and online surveys this fall to gather ideas and concerns from all stakeholders, including students, teachers, staff, parents, and neighborhood groups.

  • Student-centered: This process is about the future of our students, and their needs will remain at the center. The search will be designed to minimize disruption in classrooms while maximizing long-term opportunities for excellence.

  • Inclusive and responsive: Covington is the most diverse district in Northern Kentucky, and we view that as a strength. Our goal is to meet the unique needs of every student and family so all can thrive.

Alma Advisory Group

In August 2025, the board selected Alma Advisory Group to facilitate the national search for the next superintendent of Covington Independent Public Schools.

As the first step in the process, the board will work with Alma to engage students, families, staff, and the community in October and November 2025 to develop a candidate profile. This profile will identify the characteristics, skills, and experience needed by the next superintendent to address the district’s needs and priorities.

This page will be continuously updated with the latest search progress, events, and information.
