Superintendent Flucas Addresses the Crowd

The 2026–2027 school year is officially underway! The Holmes High School band welcomed all district staff members to Opening Day on Monday, August 17, where they were inspired, energized, and motivated for the year ahead.

Covington Mayor Ron Washington shared memories of his time as a Covington Schools student and reflected on the lasting impact his teachers had on his life. We celebrated Teresa Sharpe, Renata Watts, and Victoria Lickert as the recipients of the 2026 Class Act Awards, recognizing their dedication and commitment to going above and beyond in their roles.

Superintendent Flucas encouraged everyone to See the Light, Be the Light, and Carry the Light—bringing that spirit of positivity, purpose, and encouragement to one another and to our students throughout the year.

Here’s to an incredible 2026–2027 school year! Let’s make it our best one yet!
